Guests aren't required to wear sombreros, serapes and silver spurs at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, but
they certainly wouldn't be out of place.

This Walt Disney World resort features 1,967 moderate-price guest rooms encircling a 15-acre golden lagoon -- Lago Dorado. Based on explorations of what is now regions of Mexico and the American Southwest, the resort features a five-story Mayan pyramid, which is the resort's dominant icon. The pyramid is also the splashy centerpiece of a family fun pool, complete with waterslide.

Coronado Springs caters to families, with a festive food court, playground, volleyball court and all the amenities
that come with staying at a Walt Disney World resort.

Coronado Springs is also Disney's most value-priced convention resort, with a 95,000-square-foot convention center, including a full-service business center and a 60,000-square-foot ballroom.

Architecturally, the rambling resort gains inspiration from the grand haciendas and elegant mission cities of the Spanish Colonial era in Latin America. Its main themes come from regions of Mexico and the great American Southwest -- tile roofs and mosaic accents, arched windows and doorways, shady courtyards and patios.

The lobby, reception area and restaurants are themed to the rich tradition of life on the wealthiest haciendas
of the past or at today's finest guest ranchos of New Mexico or Arizona.

Connected to the lobby are the three- and four-story "Casitas," one of three major guest room areas. Architecturally, the Casitas represent urban centers like Santa Fe or Monterey.

Epitomizing arid rural regions of the Southwest are the "Ranchos" -- two- and three-story villas with sagebrush
and cactus landscaping along a narrow "arroyo" where a small stream of water tumbles quietly over rounded
river rocks.

On the northern shore of the Lago Dorado are the "Cabanas," inspired by beachside resorts along the Gulf Coast. Cabana buildings are two stories high with many of the rooms looking out across the lake to a watercraft marina.

Between the Ranchos and Cabanas is the 46-foot Mayan pyramid with water rushing down its ceremonial stone steps. On one side, a twisting waterslide provides extra fun for guests as its rushing water pushes them into the resort's feature pool. The area represents the imaginary discovery of a lost Mayan kingdom during a present-day archaeological dig.

There also are three "quiet" pools, one for each of the resort's guest areas. Encircling the lagoon and linking those areas, the Esplanade provides a broad walkway for leisurely strolls. La Marina offers boat and bike rentals.

Merchandise of all kinds can be found at Panchito's Gifts and Sundries -- a 6,000-square-foot shop decorated with colorful pi��s and sombreros and filled with Indian and Mestizo handicrafts and unique Disney character items.

The 420-seat Pepper Market features Mexican delicacies plus fresh baked goods, international coffees, pizzas, pastas, Chinese fare and a multi-purpose grill. Nearby is Francisco's, a 200-seat lounge offering specialty drinks
and snacks.

For fine dining, Disney's Coronado Springs Resort presents Maya Grill, operated by one of the premier
restaurateur-families of Mexico. It features a huge, wood-fired grill where guests can watch cocineros brazing
a vast array of meats and fish over the open fire. Soft-leather chairs and mission-style furnishings complete the themed decor. Decorative designs recall the elegant and geometrically-sophisticated stone carvings used by
Mayan artisans in their temples and palaces.

Other facilities include La Vida Health Club with a full range of fitness equipment, a hair-styling salon, two exciting game arcades, a poolside bar, kiddie pool, playground and sand volleyball court.

Guestroom amenities include coffee makers and in-room ironing equipment plus limited room service for breakfast and dinner. Also available on request are cribs, refrigerators, wheelchairs, hair dryers, etc. Non-smoking and accessible rooms are available.

Standard rooms will accommodate up to four guests with room rates beginning at $133, based on season. Suites are also available. The resort is located near Disney-MGM Studios and Blizzard Beach water park.

Maya Grill

This full-service restaurant serves a variety of flame-roasted meat, fish and poultry from its wood burning open grill. Featured in several menu items are mouth-watering Mayan native seasonings, including the rare Achiote, blended with sour orange and onions to provide a delicate flavor and a golden color to the meat. Beyond Mexico, specialties more associated with Caribbean islands include plantain, black beans and rice, pineapple and such exotic fruits as papaya, carambolo and mangos.
A third major menu group comes from the ranchos of the American Southwest with thick T-bone steaks, pork and lamb.

The Maya Grill seats 220 diners. Serving hosts and hostesses wear costumes in desert tan and gold to complete the decor.

Typical menu items - Seafood, soup, pork chops, salad, rib eye steak, chicken, mixed seafood grill, beef tenderloin.

Specialties - Serves an American buffet for breakfast. Meats and seafood grilled over an open wood-burning fire and complemented with Mayan and Southwestern accompaniments.

Pepper Market

At the Pepper Market, guests can assemble their own meal at nine food and drink stations. Patrons are escorted
to tables upon arrival in the 420-seat dining area and given a handy ticket that allows them to collect whatever they wish to eat or drink from each station where attendants stamp their receipt so payment can be made at the end of the meal. This provides fast and efficient service and a complete choice for each member of the family. Despite its fast-service system, the restaurant uses real china, stainless dinnerware and cloth napkins.

The nine stations include a grill serving fresh cooked eggs, hash browns, bacon and other items for breakfast
-- hamburgers, french fries, rotisserie chicken or assorted fish at lunch and dinner. Pizza and pasta stations
give guests an opportunity to observe as chefs toss freshly made pasta with a variety of sauces or watch while their pizza is prepared with individually selected toppings and baked on the spot. The Stir Fry Stand offers a
variety of vegetables, mashed potatoes, rice and soups. Mexican specialties are featured at still another stop where corn- or wheat-flour tortillas are toasted fresh on a hot Comal cooking surface while, nearby, chicken
and beef are grilled on a special grooved griddle. Tex-Mex specialties are also among the offerings plus a salsa
bar with at least a dozen different salsa sauces. In the morning, the Mexican station offers egg burritos,
frijoles and olla' -- large beans cooked whole in an earthen pot.

The Beverage Bar provides a wide variety of Latin American coffees in regular or espresso style plus soft
drinks, fresh fruit drinks and more.

At still another stand, the aroma of freshly baking bread fills the Panderia, an open bakery where tables are
piled high, each with a different variety of breads and pastries -- sour dough, white or farmers whole grain
loaves, Danish rolls, English muffins, fresh fruit tarts and layered sponge cake covered with a special Natilla
(a favorite Mexican custard sauce).

In addition to the restaurants, the pleasant, 200-seat Francisco's Lounge is adjacent to food areas. Specialty drinks include margaritas in a wide assortment of flavors served in hand-blown glasses. In a courtyard just
outside the area are additional tables where guests can enjoy the Florida sun and their favorite food or drink.
The restaurant area is located in the heart of the hotel near the main lobby.

How do I get around the resort?
To El Centro and the Convention Center from bus stop 2 (Casitas), bus stop 3 (Ranchos) or bus stop 4
(Cabanas), board any theme park bus. To get to your room from El Centro and the Convention Center, board
any Downtown Disney or Disney's BoardWalk bus at bus stop 1 (El Centro).

Mongoose Bicycle rental is available at La Marina located on Lake Dorado. Relax by taking in the sights and
sounds by touring the Esplanade that circles the lake. Bicycle helmets are required for guests 16 years and younger.

Where can I play volleyball?
The volleyball court is located at the Dig Site next to Siesta Grill. Volleyballs are available at Siesta Grill at no
charge to Coronado Springs Resort guests only. Resort ID required.

Is there a jogging trail?
Maps of the jogging trail and nature walk are available from Guest Services.

Is hair wrapping available?
Get in the festival spirit by having your hair decorated with brilliant colours inspired by the treasures
unearthed at the Dig Site. This service is provided at the main pool next to the Pyramid of the Sun.

Are there childcare facilities?
There is no Kids' Club at Coronado Springs. Kindercare offers in-room and drop-off child care services.

Is there a games arcade?
Yes, the Jumping Beans Arcade is located in the El Centro building next to Panchito's Gifts and Sundries.

Is there a swimming pool?
Yes, the feature pool, which feature a twisting jaguar slide, is located at the Dig Site next to the Pyramid of the Sun. You'll also find the children's pool here, and the largest spa (hot tub) on Disney property which seats 22 people. The pools are restricted for the exclusive use of Coronado Springs Resort guests. The main pool has a lifeguard. Three village pools are located in the Casitas, Ranchos and Cabanas settlements. No lifeguards are on duty there.

What time is the pool open?
From 8:00am to 12:00 midnight. The village pools are open 8:00am to 10:00pm. Lifeguard hours may vary. Pool hours may vary due to inclement weather.

Yes, the business center is located adjacent to the Coronado Ballroom, and provides various services including packaging, shipping and receiving, facsimiles, photocopying, pager and cellular services.

Is there a guest laundry?
Yes, coin-operated washers and dryers are located adjacent to quiet pool areas.

Yes, laundry bags and lists are located in the closet in your room. One day service is available if received by 9:00am.

If I use the package delivery service in the parks, where do I pick them up?
If you shop at any merchandise location at the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, or the Downtown Disney area, and choose to have your packages delivered back to your resort, they can be picked up the following day at Panchito's Gifts and Sundries.

Does the Resort have wheelchairs available for guest use?
Yes, a limited number of wheelchairs are available at Guest Services. There is no charge, but a credit card guarantee may be required. A limited number or wheelchairs and motorized wheelchairs are available to rent
at the theme parks.

• Hire a bike and spend time riding around this huge resort exploring.
• The spa at the Dig site is the largest on Disney property, and makes for a relaxing break after a hard day
  at the parks.
• Request a room near to El Centro unless you like long walks and lots of privacy.
• You'll pay extra for snacks from room service. Instead, call in at the Pepper Market and take your food
  back to your room.
• Invest in a refillable mug if you drink a lot of coffee, tea or soda whilst at your Resort.
